Satellite Integration into 5G Communication Systems
The presentation will present the convergence of satellite communications and terrestrial 5G networks, with a particular focus on the Starlink system, which is based on a global constellation of low-orbit satellites. As a complement to traditional terrestrial infrastructure, satellites play a key role in expanding broadband coverage, increasing network redundancy and reducing latency. The presentation will review the integration challenges and standardization directions between 5G and non-terrestrial networks (NTN), as well as the opportunities for satellite backhaul and edge computing. The demo will demonstrate the operation of a Starlink antenna, which will clearly illustrate how a user terminal can dynamically connect to the satellite network, ensuring that it becomes an integral part of the 5G ecosystem.
