The Role of ESG in Advancing the SDGs through Higher Education

A critical topic: the role of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) frameworks in achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and how higher education can play a pivotal role in this transformation. ESG is more than a corporate responsibility—it aligns directly with the SDGs, providing businesses, investors, and educators with a roadmap for sustainable development. The 17 SDGs, adopted by all UN member states in 2015, provide a blueprint for addressing global challenges such as poverty, inequality, climate change, and peace by 2030. The lecture will focus on how ESG intersects with these goals and what universities and educational institutions can do to drive this agenda forward.
